My Never-Ending Booknotes: First Days (Ghost Bird #2) by C.L. Stone

My Never-Ending Booknotes features my favorite lines/dialogue/quotes from the books I already finished or currently reading. It's a once a week post so if you want to share your favorite quotes, please feel free to share it with me/us on the comments or you may write your own post in your blog.

From the GHOST BIRD Series by C.L. Stone, here's FIRST DAYS (book 2):

Gabriel ignored him. "What would someone have to do to get detention in this class?"
Ms. Johnson still looked confused. "I suppose if someone started cussing in class, but..."
"G*dd*mn-sh*t-m*th*rf*ck*r," Gabriel spat out. He pressed his index finger to his chin and looked apologetic. "Oh wait, is it one detention for each one or can it just count as a group?"
The class roared with laughter. I pressed my hands to my face, smothering a giggle of my own. What was he doing?
Ms. Johnson's lips twisted into an almost smirk. "If you wanted a detention that badly, you could have just asked me after class."
"Oh," Gabriel said. "Then sorry. I'll ask you after class."

Summary | Add to TBR

Sang Sorenson used to be the invisible girl in class. As a new student to Ashley Waters High School, Sang hopes that her new friends will be the change she’s been craving and will make fitting in a breeze.

But Academy students aren’t there to take it easy. The high school is overcrowded and rife with violence. When fights begin, Sang will uncover the true reason the boys traded in their private school life for a public one.

This year, Sang will no longer be invisible. This year, Sang is a target.

The principal and vice principal are hot to take Sang down, and her own mother is determined to entrap Sang forever in her belief that the safest place to be is in the shadows. Despite this, Nathan, Luke, Kota, North, Silas, Victor, and Gabriel will discover Sang’s unyielding loyalty.

And they will sorely need it.

First book in the series is Introductions. You can read the summary here.

My Never-Ending Booknotes: BULLY (Fall Away, #1) by Penelope Douglas

My Never-Ending Booknotes features my favorite lines/dialogue/quotes from the books I already finished or currently reading. It's a once a week post so if you want to share your favorite quotes, please feel free to share it with me/us on the comments or you may write your own post in your blog.

. . . .
Here's my Never-Ending Booknote for today, from one of my new favorites, BULLY by Penelope Douglas.

"You are my tempest, my thunder cloud, my tree in the downpour.
I loved all those things, and I loved you.
But now? You're a fucking drought.
I thought that all the assholes drove German cars,
but it turns out that pricks in Mustangs can still leave scars."

Summary | Add to TBR

My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all. No, he'll barely even speak to me.

But he still won't leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.

But I'm done hiding from him now, and there's no way in hell I'll allow him to ruin my senior year. He might not have changed, but I have. It's time to fight back.

I'm not going to let him bully me anymore.

***This novel contains adult/mature young adult situations. It is only suitable for ages 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations.

. . . .

P.S. It's been so long since my last post. I never thought I'd still be here and writing. I want to thank my bookish and Starbooks friend LIS of THE READER LINES for her continuous post of NEBN even though I've been gone for a year or so... I constantly receive updates on her blogs and I always smile whenever I see her NEBN posts. She doesn't know it yet, but knowing that she still post something (on my behalf) is a reminder that I may still have a spot in the blogging community, and that I can always go back. THANK YOU LIS for being an awesomesauce friend and fellow blogger/reviewer. I owe you a lot already!

TBR Intervention Challenge (51)

TBR Intervention is a weekly challenge hosted by

This is going to be a sad post for me. TBRIC has been my regular post every Saturday with some of my awesomest friends in the blogsophere--Dani and Ayanami and Heather, too. And of course it wouldn't be possible to have this meme without your support, our fellow readers and bloggers who are so awesome for keeping up with us this whole time. I would like to especially give my thank yous to Lis @The Reader Lines and Brittani @Hope, Faith, & Books blogs, for being our constant companions ... doing this meme until the end. Thank you for your support. Thanks so much to everyone who joined and participated the TBR Intevervention Challenge--those who joined regularly, those who joined once or twice, those who joined a couple of more times, those who joined us when we started the meme, and to those who are still joining us up to the last time. THANK YOU SO MUCH. It wouldn't be successful without all your support and love. As much as I don't want to say this, and as much as I don't want this to end, I have to say that this would be my last post for the TBR Intervention Challenge. It's been a great journey doing this with all of you awesome bloggers. Thank you very much, once again.

Thank you Dani and Heather. Thank you Ayanami. Thank you everyone for those fantabulous times! See you around the blog-o-sphere! :)

.  .  .  .

OKAAAAAAY...
Last Saturday I haven't put up my TBRIC post because Dani and I just talked about it and we're waiting for Ayanami's reply. So sorry if you haven't seen any linky... (I'm going to miss the linky too!).

So the last time, I committed reading Article 5 by Kristen Simmons and Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley. I finished both books! Yay! Both are good but I enjoyed Graffiti Moon better. I'm not sure if I'm going to put up my review of Article 5, but if you want to see my thoughts about Graffiti Moon, you can read my review here.

Right now, I'm reading Reaping Me Softly by Kate Evangelista. I'm enjoying it so far, but not as much as I enjoyed Taste. I'm not even halfway through so I can't say anything more about the book. Please wait for my review to come up on October 30th as part of the Reaping Me Softly Blog Tour.

That's it! Thank you for reading my post today and for being here in my blog for my last TBRIC post. I'm going to miss this meme. I loved this so much, it's our baby (right Dani, Ayanami?). But sometimes we can't keep something to last forever. Maybe in the near future we'll see each other again in a new meme... who knows. But right now, I just want to say that even if there is no more TBRIC every week, we can still share our books and our TBR list in a way or so. Keep reading. Keep sharing. Enjoy your books and remember that YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS A HUGE TBR PILE to manage. There is no such thing as too many books anyway. JUST RELAX & SMILE & KEEP READING.

Have a fantastic week everyone! See you around the blog-o-sphere! :) Xoxo.

My Never-Ending Booknotes: Shatter Me by Tehereh Mafi

My Never-Ending Booknotes features my favorite lines/dialogue/quotes from the books I already finished or currently reading. I'm going to post every Wednesday, and if you want to share your favorite quotes, please feel free to do so. I would be so happy and excited to read them. Who knows, we might have the same favorites! :)

.  .  .  .

It's been a while since I had my last NEBN. I have to thank my good friend Lis @The Reader Lines for reminding me that it's not yet too late to post my NEBN today. I've been out and busy lately. My pregnancy isn't a super easy one this time. I need a TON of rest, bed rest actually. Taking care of the house and the family especially my kid isn't making my situation less difficult too. So yeah, you get it, I am always tired and sleepy and hungry all the time. Sorry for the lack of posts these couple of weeks (not only with regards to my NEBN which is supposedly every Wednesday, but also reviews and other features). Anyway, if you're here, I wanna THANK YOU for keeping up with me all this time, and THANK YOU for not giving up visiting/reading my blog.

So today/tonight, I chose SHATTER ME by Tehereh Mafi as the source of my Never-Ending Booknotes. There are lots to take note from this amazing book, and I chose a few to share with you. If you already read the book then these will be familiar to you. Here it goes...

The world is flat.
I know because I was tossed right off the edge and I've been trying to hold on for 17 years. I've been trying to climb up for 17 years but it's nearly impossible to beat gravity when no one is willing to give you a hand.

Laughter comes from living. I've never really been alive before.

Every step is one I take because I want to. For the first time in my life, I walk forward because I want to, because I feel hope and love and the exhilaration of beauty, because I want to know what it's like to live.

TBR Intervention Challenge (50)

Everyone is WELCOME to JOIN this meme. Just click the image TBR Intervention Button above to see the rules and read more about this feature.

LAST WEEK'S TBRIC:

Last week I've finished Shattered Souls by Marie Lindsey but sad to say I haven't finish Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris. Shattered Souls was good, Unraveling Me was a little slow. I still plan to finish the book but I don't know when, we'll see. Hehe. Anyway, aside from that, I also read and enjoyed Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan. It was really good and I'm looking forward to read the second book. It was slow in the beginning... full of flashbacks actually. The protagonist irritates me so much but the story is worth reading so I manage to stay on and finish the book. I really liked it.

THIS WEEK'S TBRIC:

This week I'm planning to finish Article 5 by Kristin Simmons and then start Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley. I heard good things about these books and I'm so excited to finally be able to pick them for my TBRIC. They've been on my TBR for months now and I think it's time to get through these wonderful-sounding books.

What are you planning to read this week?

TBR Intervention Challenge (49)

Everyone is WELCOME to JOIN this meme. Just click the image TBR Intervention Button above to see the rules and read more about this feature.

LAST WEEK'S TBRIC:

I finished Every Day by David Levithan. It was such a good book. Sad, heartbreaking, remarkable. It's very unique and I really enjoyed it. A little slow but there is a part in the book that really made it for me. It was surprising and I didn't expect something like that. It wasn't a happy ending but I liked it. I know that there are readers who LOVED this book, I didn't love it like they do, but I still liked it. This may not be a book for everyone, but it's a worth a try. It's a 4-star for me :)

THIS WEEK'S TBRIC:

I want to read a contemporary right now but I don't think that would be such a great idea. My OB-Gyne said to me that I should temporarily avoid very emotional stories (not good for my developing baby and for my swinging moods), and all the contemporary books I have on my shelf right now are tear-jerker (so I've heard). So now, I've chosen Unraveling Me and Shattered Souls as my next TBRIC. okay, I kinda cheat here because I already started Unraveling Me by Elizabeth Norris. It's a little slow but interesting enough to continue. Then I'm going to read Shattered Souls by Marie Lindsey. It's been a long while already, I need to read it.

So how's your TBRIC last week? I've been absent on the hop lately... sorry I wasn't able to visit your posts. I will try my best to get back on track. :) Have a great weekend everybody!

My Never-Ending Booknotes: Legend by Marie Lu

My Never-Ending Booknotes features my favorite lines/dialogue/quotes from the books I already finished or currently reading. I'm going to post every Wednesday, and if you want to share your favorite quotes, please feel free to do so. I would be so happy and excited to read them. Who knows, we might have the same favorites! :)

One of my recent favorite dystopian novel is Legend by Marie Lu and this is my feature book for today's NEBN. Enjoy!
I take a closer look at Kaede's new opponent.
She's not much taller than Tess and definitely lighter than Kaede. For a second it seems like the crowd's attention has made her uncomfortable and I'm ready to dismiss her as a real contender until I study her again. No, this girl is nothing like the last one. She's hesitating not because she's afraid to fight, or because she fears losing, but because she's thinking. Calculating. She has a dark hair tied back into a high ponytail and a lean, athletic build. She stands deliberately, with a hand resting on her hip, as if nothing in the world can catch her off guard. I find myself pausing to admire her face.
For a brief moment, I'm lost to my surroundings.

...the instant the new girl steps into the circle and I see her stance...I know I've made a big mistake. Kaede strikes like a bull, a battering ram.
This girl strikes like a viper. (Day)

LAST WEEK'S TBRIC:

I am finished with Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen and I really liked it. I'm not satisfied with the ending though and it feels like there is something lacking in the story. But nevertheless, it was such a great read for me and once again, Sarah Dessen didn't let me down. I love her stories and I'm sure that I'll come back for more. I'm giving it a 4/5 coffee cups rating. My review will be up this week, I hope.

I also started Callum and Harper but wasn't able to continue 'cos I've found a copy of Every Day by David Levithan in the bookstore the last time we went out malling. So...

THIS WEEK'S TBRIC:

Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.

Every morning, A wakes in a different person’s body, a different person’s life. There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day. With his new novel, David Levithan has pushed himself to new creative heights. He has written a captivating story that will fascinate readers as they begin to comprehend the complexities of life and love in A’s world, as A and Rhiannon seek to discover if you can truly love someone who is destined to change every day.
Every Day by David Levithan will be my commitment this week. The summary is wow and I heard a lot of good things about this book. I'm a bit scared about the ending though... because they said it's unexpected and emotional. Gosh, I'm not even sure if I am ready for a heartbreaking ending, but I am so curious about the story and how David Levithan pulled this off.

So how's your TBR pile? How many books did you read? I hope you did better than me this week. Have an awesome weekend!

"Soon enough I'll tell you what you want to know--if you don't see it first, that is. And then I'll lose you, just like that." I saw pain flit across his face, and I felt it too--his pain.

"You won't lose me," I said, taking a tentative step toward him. Despite my anger, despite everything, I felt an overwhelming urge to comfort him. "No matter your secrets are, no matter how terrible you think you are, you won't lose me."

He reached for my shoulders and drew me against his chest. "I'll make sure to remind you that you said that, okay? When you're running away from me as fast as you can."

A Moment of Retreat | What Would It Take For You To Feel Rich?

Along with our busy schedules--blogging, reading, reviewing, plus other stuffs outside of the blogging community, we need to have a moment of rest, a moment of peace, a moment of solitude, and a moment of prayer. I find this necessary to help me achieve a clear mind, a good mood, the right focus, and something that will help me get through the day without breaking. So I've decided to extend my devotional to my blog hoping that somehow, some way, I can touch some hearts, if not all, at least some.

Day 1: I was reading my devotional this morning, and came upon on one of Dr. Charles Stanley's teaching. He's my favorite Pastor and Minister and his teachings had made a huge impact to me especially during one of the most difficult times of my life. Let me share with you what I think about this morning based on what I read.

Have you ever wonder how differently the world and God measure poverty and wealth? Most people think that if they acquire lots of material possessions and financial security, they will feel happy and contented. But the more we receive, the more we want to acquire. Material wealth can never give lasting peace and security no matter how big our house and bank accounts are, or how successful we are in our career, or how many cars we have at our garage. What we behold, we become. What ever it is that hold our focus takes hold of our life. And I wonder, what do I care about the most? Is it my job? Is it my family? Is it my faith? What would it take for me to feel rich?

What would it take for you to feel rich?

"Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life."
- Matthew 5:8

Have an awesome day! God bless!

Origin

Summary | Add to TBR

Pia has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. She was raised by a team of scientists who have created her to be the start of a new immortal race. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the electric fence that surrounds her sterile home—and sneaks outside the compound for the first time in her life.

Free in the jungle, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Together, they embark on a race against time to discover the truth about Pia’s origin—a truth with deadly consequences that will change their lives forever.

Origin is a beautifully told, shocking new way to look at an age-old desire: to live forever, no matter the cost. This is a supremely compelling debut novel that blends the awakening romance of Matched with the mystery and jungle conspiracy of Lost.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish.

When she wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings, Skye knows something terrible has happened to her. But it's not until she hears Asher, the dark, rebellious angel she fell in love with, that the memories come flooding back. She tries to put the past behind her, but she knows she'll be forever haunted by the ruthless betrayal that almost took her life.

Skye returns home, but with the knowledge of who she really is, nothing can ever be the same. As she tests the limits of her newfound powers, Skye discovers that she's capable of far more than anyone could have imagined. Both the Order and the Rebellion want her for their side as war between the factions looms. Summary | Add to TBR

Dangerous to be together. Painful to be apart.Savannah Colbert knows she broke up with Tristan Coleman for the right reasons. Most of all, to keep from killing him with her new vampire abilities. But try telling her heart. Now, lost in a sea of hostile Clann faces, Sav tries to come to terms with what she's becoming and what that means for her future. And that someone is doing their best to bully her into making a terrible mistake.

Tristan can't believe Sav won't even talk to him. If being apart is her decision, fine. Just don't expect him to honor it. But even as he prepares to fight for the girl he loves, forces beyond their control take them both in directions neither could have foreseen or prepared for.

A reckoning is coming…and not everyone will survive.

I'm sure I missed some (maybe a lot more) but in case you know of some books I forgot to mention here, feel free to add the book title and the release date in the comments below. Thanks and have a great day!

LAST WEEK'S TBRIC:

Yay, Yay! I already finished The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton and it was good! I really enjoyed and liked this book. It reminds me a bit of Twilight Saga (love, love, love) but it's not solely about vampires. It's a story of a Witch who fell in love with a Strigoi, and together they will fight to protect the world while trying to find a way for them to be together...forever. I really enjoyed it, it was surprisingly good and Rebecca Hamilton is a talented writer. I loved her style of writing in The Forever Girl.

I also finished and loved (yes!) Surrender by Elana Johnson. It is the second book of the Possession Series and I'm glad that I finally read it! It was really good! Elana Johnson has written this book with depth. It's a compelling story and I can't wait for the next installment. The ending was even bigger than the killer ending in Possession. Though this series is a bit confusing (especially Possession),  I still enjoyed it and loved it. It reminds me again how much I love dystopian novels.

THIS WEEK'S TBRIC:

This week I plan to read Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen. I have this book since April this year, but it has been on my TBRIC for about a year now... maybe even longer. I adore Sarah Dessen's writing and I feel like I'm in need of some nice contemporary book right now :)

What are you reading? How's your TBR pile? I hope you had a wonderful week!

My Never-Ending Booknotes: Because of Low by Abbi Glines

My Never-Ending Booknotes features my favorite lines/dialogue/quotes from the books I already finished or currently reading. I'm going to post every Wednesday, and if you want to share your favorite quotes, please feel free to do so. I would be so happy and excited to read them. Who knows, we might have the same favorites! :)

I love the Sea Breeze Series by Abbi Glines, and last time I featured While It Lasts (Sea Breeze #3) in my Never-Ending Booknotes. If you haven't seen it yet, you can still read my post here. Today, I picked Because of Low, my most favorite of all the Sea Breeze books yet.

"Why the hell does she run off to him all the time? I don't get it!"

"Because he's her safe house. As screwed up as it is considering who we're talking about. Cage cares about one thing in the world and it's Low. He's been fighting her battles and fixing her problems since they were kids. We all lived on the same street. I remember watching them. It always fascinated me how bad boy Cage York acted like a love sick puppy when it comes to her. She fell down he came running. You want her, then good luck. Because every time you aren't there to pick her up I can assure you Cage will be. She knows she can call him. She knows no matter what he'll love her. Unconditional love is hard to compete with."

I grabbed hold of the chair beside me. My knees went weak. The ache hearing Larissa ask for Willow was nothing compared to the pain searing through my chest. The things I'd said. Oh, God, no.

"She's been left her whole life. She's a good girl. Larissa adores her. Where her sister lacks in many honorable traits Willow seems to have them in abundance."

I'd left her.
Just like she feared.

Do you have some favorite lines to share?

LAST WEEK'S TBRIC:

Last week I told you that I'll try to finish Stay With Me by Paul Griffin, which I did. I'm glad that I'm done with the book though I haven't posted my review yet. I'm still writing it and probably post it this coming week. It's good but a little slow. And the ending was like "that's it?!" kind of thing. It's not a happy ending for me, but I understand that life isn't perfect and the book was just trying to be realistic. I'm a sucker for HEA and this book didn't give me that. Nevertheless, I liked it enough. Sad, heartbreaking, bittersweet romance.

I didn't start Surrender by Elana Johnson because I've decided I needed to finish a few more review books I got months ago (since last year!). So instead of reading what I planned last week, I started The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton which is GOOD! I'm still halfway through and I'll tell you what I think when I finish the book.

THIS WEEK'S TBRIC:

The Forever Girl: Sophia's Journey (Forever Girl #1)
by Rebecca Hamilton
Sophia's family has skeletons, but they aren't in their graves.

At twenty-two, practicing Wiccan Sophia Parsons is scratching out a living waiting tables in her Rocky Mountain hometown, a pariah after a string of unsolved murders with only one thing in common: her.

Sophia can imagine lots of ways to improve her life, but she'd settle for just getting rid of the buzzing noise in her head. When the spell she casts goes wrong, the static turns into voices. Her personal demons get company, and the newcomers are dangerous.

One of them is a man named Charles, who Sophia falls for despite her better judgment. He has connections that might help her unveil the mystery surrounding her ancestor's hanging, but she gets more than she bargains for when she finally decides to trust him.

Survival in his world, she learns, means not asking questions and staying out of the immortal council's way. It's a line she crossed long ago. If Sophia wants to survive the council and save the people she loves, she must accept who she is, perform dark magic, and fight to the death for her freedom.

The Forever Girl is a full-length Paranormal Fantasy novel that will appeal to lovers of paranormal romance, urban fantasy, witches, vampires, ghosts, paranormal mystery, and paranormal horror.
I received this book for review long time ago (I can't remember the exact date) so I think it's just right to give it a chance. Since I already started it and hopefully finish it this weekend, I'll try to read one more book. I just can't decide which book next because my mood changes a lot! Today I feel like reading a contemporary, tomorrow it will be something else. But I'll pick one from my past TBRIC books that I haven't gotten through yet. I'll re-check your past suggestions :)

So, how's your week? Sorry I wasn't able to visit some blogs for the past few weeks. I hope everyone is doing well and good luck with your books!
