MY LAST WEEK'S TBRIC:
After weeks of trying to finish Whispering Hills by Taryn Browning, I finally did it! This book is a good read but I liked Taryn Browning's Dark Seeker more than this one. My review will be up soon. I'm also about finished with Meeting Destiny by Nancy Straight. I need it for the tour stop on April 18th so my review will be up on that day along with a giveaway and a Guest Post. Don't forget to come over :)
THIS WEEK'S TBRIC:
I'd really like to read Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey which has been on my TBR list since August 2011 or Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor that I received last December 2011 from Natalia @Dazzling Reads :) But I NEED to read and finish Bonds of Fenris by SJ Bell, I just hope that it's good enough to keep me entertained 'cos I badly needed a good book right now (or I might die of frustration already *sigh).
How's your week? I hope that everything's great with you all!

I know exactly what you mean about needing a good book. I've been pushing my way through one book that I promised to review forever and a day ago which I'm really not enjoying and started another that's the first series book in a series where I promised to review the second (which means I need to read the first one first.) which also isn't gripping me at all. So between the two of them it was making reading seem almost like a chore. At which point I decided to pull out a well loved trilogy I hadn't reviewed yet since blogging. Since I've read it god knows how many times I'm still not reading with my usual speed but at least it's a book I enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe cover on Bonds of Fenris looks good and Fenris himself is an interesting mythological character, I'm pretty sure he's Norse but don't quote me on that. I just know I've read about him before. And if it's not gripping you could like set yourself a goal meaning okay I'm going to read 25 pages in this book I don't enjoy today and then I'm going to read what I really want to. As long as you read whatever the amount of pages you said you were going to each day you'd finish it by week's end and still be able to read something you enjoy to keep you interested in reading. I've never read the book so I don't know if it's interesting or not.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is in my TBR pile too not that I'm reading it this week. But then again I've got a massive TBR pile which I've learned is common in Book Bloggers. Love the cover on Meeting Destiny, is the story as interesting as the cover makes it out to be?
Jenn, I didn't know about Fenris! I'm so glad you gave me an idea and it makes me excited to read the book :) I'm grateful that you've mentioned it! Thank you.
DeleteYou're absolutely right about reading a book you enjoy... Honestly, I feels like reading and blogging is being a real chore to me lately... especially when I can't get myself into the book no matter how much I tried. It's so frustrating. I've decided not to accept more reviews as of now so I can enjoy the books I'm really excited about. And I totally agree with you about book bloggers having a massive TBR pile! They keep on growing and piling up! Too many good books and there's not enough time for me to finish all. But yet, I keep on adding more books everyday. I'm glad I'm not alone! Every reader/blogger can relate, right? hehe. Well, as long as we're enjoying ourselves, I guess it's ok :)
Meeting Destiny is good. 3-4 out of 5 stars I guess.. I'm still deciding... :P
I stopped accepting requests until I get through all the ones I have and when I came back from hiatus I came back deciding I wasn't just going to read what I promised to that I needed to work in what I just wanted to read. Part of the reason I made a schedule is that is combines both what I want to read for the sake of reading and what I promised to read. Plus as I knock out things on the schedule to give myself some breathing room I'm given the freedom to read whatever I want for a bit, something I didn't plan to read and tack that on on the end of my schedule. I know that to make my schedule I need to start the book two days before it posts in case I get busy and don't get it read and reviewed the same day I start it. I have 2 books plus 2 short stories I have to read this week to stick with my schedule but one was a preorder I've been chomping at the bit to read so that will be done in no time flat and the other I've pushed through 200 of 280 pages in between things I enjoy so I should get that finished up today. If all goes as planned I'll have my schedule for April all read and reviewed by the end of the day today and then I'll get to my three challenge books. I enjoy Victoria Alexander's books so I expect to have those all done by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. And then I'll decide which book on my schedule I want to read next. The schedule, as long as I make an effort first to get myself ahead, allows me to read what I feel like reading when I feel like reading it.

ReplyDeleteHi April!
ReplyDeleteHope you can read Daughter of somoke and bone this week. I really like that book. Or Shattered souls, it´s in my most anticipated list and I´ve heard it´s kinda good.
Have a nice week and happy reading!
XOXO!
You finally finished Whispering Hills. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI'm also debating whether I'd read Shattered Souls for the TBRIC just after The Immortal Rules and Sundays' at Tiffany's. But I borrowed Mills and Boon books (those old one that were popular in the 70s-80s) from a friend's mother so as to take a break from YA. My mother used to have those Mills and Boon books, only a few survived now since she burned them all when I was in high school because I was reading them instead of studying.
I also tried to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone a week or so ago and I liked the few chapters I've read so far. It was weird in a good sort of way since I haven't read that particular style and plot before. I haven't finished it yet since I was always interrupted with everyday matters. I'm reserving it for when no once would disturb me.
For now, happy reading and I hope you enjoy Bonds of Fenris.
YAY! You did it! You knocked those two off your list. Feels good, huh?
ReplyDeleteI hope Bonds of Fenris fills that need for a good book. I know what you mean though. I constant diet of "ok" books gets me jonesin' for a freaking awesome, can't-put-it-down kinda book. I've heard Daughter of Smoke and Bone is awesome, so if we get a vote on your next TBRIC book, I vote for that one! LOL Good luck this week April!
